Greetings,
Many thanks to all who visited City Lights this weekend and shared good times and great beers. Our Oktoberfest Celebration is amazing! On Saturday, guests were finishing a sixth barrel of Jimmy the Brewmaster’s Oktoberfest Lager every forty-five minutes! Prost.
Our guests are welcome to stand, sit, lock arms or take a knee during Pat McCurdy’s raucous anthem, “Sex and Beer.” Pat is the original “bawdy balladeer” and shares his talents with City Lights guests next on October 11. This weekend, join us on Friday night for Jackson Park Jazz. I have seldom witnessed a higher energy and more fun-filled set than when this group of talented musicians takes the stage. (And remember we are closed Saturday evening for a private event.)
The Milwaukee Brewers have their final home series of the season with games this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Stop by City Lights for refreshing beers and delicious eats before the games and shuttle in style. Thursday’s game is a 3:10 start. Thursday the Packers and Bears kick-off at 7:25. What an awesome doubleheader! And between games on Thursday, all food orders at City Lights will be served with a warm smile and a complimentary City Lights beer of your choice. Go Brew Crew! Go Pack!
What an inaugural Ultimate Beer Run it was! Cheek-busting laughter, high fives and camaraderie ruled the day. Thanks to our good friends at Third Space Brewing for partnering with us on this awesome fund raiser for Menomonee Valley Partners.
It’s Valley Week! https://www.valleyweek.com/ . Things to do! Places to visit! Experiences to have! (And great beer to drink!)
Jimmy the Brewmaster and his brewing team have crafted an awesome recipe for their next brew style. Care to guess what it will be? E-mail me with your guess and the first ten correct responses will receive a free growler and fill on its release date. I can’t wait to taste the brew that will proudly join the City Lights line-up alongside Coconut Porter, American Pale Ale, Vienna Lager (Oktoberfest), Irish Red Ale, Brown Ale, Amber Ale, IPA, Session IPA, Orange Wheat and the soon-to-come Doppelbock Lager. That is ten dynamic beers if I am counting correctly – though I recently read that 5 out of 4 people in the beer industry are math-challenged.
The amazing Stacey from Vibram: http://us.vibram.com/ hooked our staff up with FiveFingers in anticipation of the promotion we cobbled together. Stacey rocks! And the team has an extra bounce in their step and twinkle in their eyes when the rock their FiveFingers. You will love your FiveFingers too!
I am continuously amazed at the unbridled passion our Chief Innovation Officer has for beer. Dr. David Ryder has a youthful exuberance, a zealous joy and an encyclopedia-like knowledge of all things beer-related. We are so fortunate to have Dr. Ryder on our team.
Swing and a Miss were incredible this weekend. They brilliantly covered Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl.” I pointed out the paradox: If you get Jessie’s girl, she is no longer Jessie’s girl and thus you have obtained nothing. They were not amused.
In a serious closing note, each of us has someone in their extended circle facing a health challenge. Let us flood the universe with positive energy and raise our collective hearts and souls and pray for health and wellness.
Have the best Valley Week ever!
Robin
