Greetings,
Our Hawaiian-luau themed celebration for last Friday’s release of Jimmy the Brewmaster’s Coconut Porter beer in 16-ounce cans was a great time. Unfortunately, the time to purchase Coconut Porter in 16-ounce cans at City Lights has come and gone as we quickly sold out our limited-edition allotment. Not to worry though, Coconut Porter is still available in the tap room in both pint glasses and growlers to go.
In preparation for brewing each batch of Coconut Porter, Jimmy the Brewmaster meticulously and lovingly roasts the coconut at his home. If you are near Oconomowoc and experience the delightful aroma of coconut wafting in the air, you will know that Coconut Porter will soon be in the brewing kettle at City Lights.
A special thanks to the Beer Capitol team for their herculean efforts in keeping City Lights beers in stock at our much-appreciated vendor partners for the duration of the State Fair. It was great being at the Fair and a heartfelt “thank you” to all who enjoyed a deliciously refreshing City Lights beer at State Fair Park. We’re looking forward to an even bigger presence next year.
The incredible Pat McCurdy takes the City Lights stage Wednesday at 7PM. If you haven’t seen Pat play live, you haven’t experienced a true Milwaukee cultural phenomenon. If you have seen Pat play live, you’ll want to be here just to hear his City Lights’ version of “Sex and Beer.” The music and hilarity starts at 7PM.
It was hard getting over my addiction to the Hokey-Pokey. But I’ve turned myself around at that is what it is all about.
Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon the Brewers continue their resurgent march towards a division championship. Why not make City Lights your tailgate headquarters and enjoy a delicious brew and complimentary shuttle to and from Miller Park?
Friday night, the ADHD Blues Band rocks the house starting at 7PM. Saturday, be sure to be here for the City Lights debut of Derek Pretzel.
I was coaching one of our servers and I mentioned to her that she had an inordinate difficulty understanding simple, straight forward statements. She relentlessly queried me as to the meaning of my comment.
The brewing team loves testing their creativity and amazing your palate each Friday with the release of their weekly firkin. This week, you will be delighted to sample their Cherry Gose. Gose is a top-fermented beer brewed with at least 50% of the grain bill being malted wheat. The addition of cherries provides a delightful tartness. The theater of the tapping of the firkin is a sight to behold.
Our Saturday and Sunday brunches are fantastic and they will be even more fantastic this weekend because it is BOGO BRUNCH time at City Lights. Buy one brunch entrée and get one free and enjoy the idyllic setting in the beer garden as the Menomonee River rambles slowly by. Brunch service starts at 10AM and continues until 3PM.
Hope to see you this week!
Cheers!
Robin
