Greetings,

Saturday will be rocking at City Lights. To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, we will be giving away a free tamale with the purchase of each Mexican Lager from noon until 3PM. We’ll feature complimentary tortilla chips and salsa during that time also. An authentic Mariachi band will play live from 1:30 to 2:30PM. And to commemorate the day, why not purchase our styling City Lights Mexican Lager T-shirt? Each shirt purchased comes with a complimentary Mexican Lager (which comes with a complimentary tamale, which is accompanied by complimentary chips and salsa – all compliments of City Lights!)

Fast fact: Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico’s Independence Day, nor is it the holiday to celebrate Mexico’s first purchase of five jars of Hellman’s mayonnaise. Cinco de Mayo is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

Saturday also marks the 144th running of the Kentucky Derby. Derby Day will be fun-filled at City Lights. Each guest will have the opportunity to pick one winning horse. If his/her chosen horse wins (go Bravazo), he/she wins a complimentary pint of refreshing City Lights beer. We will also be serving our traditional “Beer-julips” from 3PM until race time. And don’t forget to style-up in your sartorial splendor. A $100 City Lights gift card will be awarded for the women’s best derby-inspired hat and the best men’s too! And they’re off…

And if Saturday couldn’t get any better, it just did! We’ll be shuttling fans to the ballpark as our hometown nine takes on the Pirates at 6:40PM on Saturday (also for the Friday evening and Sunday afternoon games too.!) The incredible Hearthfire http://hearthfireband.com/ takes to the stage at 7PM.

Saturday also marks our official debut in Chicago! We will be sampling beer at the Chicago Beer Classic. Jimmy the Brewmaster will lead the City Lights team at Soldier Field as we share the City Lights magic with our border buddies to the South.

Jimmy the Brewmaster and his brewing team have been working around the clock to ensure your favorite City Lights beer is in-stock. Brewing the beer is the fun part. Behind the scenes, there’s cleaning, more cleaning and then even more cleaning. Our VP of Sales and Operations, Andy, is doing a phenomenal job of coordinating with our distributor partners while I wander the halls aimlessly pretending to be involved.

Lights! Camera! Action! Italian wedding lights will go up over our beer garden next week adding a charming ambiance to this already-idyllic setting. And plans for our outdoor movie series suggest a blockbuster summer is right around the corner!

We are honored that so many of you have chosen to spend some time at City Lights. Our hospitality team has a passion to deliver exceptional guest experiences. We are also honored to partner with an incredible distributor network whose teams work tirelessly to ensure your favorite beers are available at the location of your choice.  Thanks to all.

Here's to the best Cinco de Derby weekend ever!
