Greetings,
Opening Day at City Lights Brewing Company will be spectacular: 2200 free bratwursts, live music, complimentary shuttles (with the purchase of a beer) to Miller Park and the tapping of our specialty Lemongrass Wheat beer.
Our day starts long before the sun rises when our culinary team begins preparations to grill up 2200 juicy Klements’ brats, simmered in our beers and served in a freshly-baked Miller brat bun for a unique, Milwaukee-centric taste treat.
Doors open at 8AM and our hip, happening, joyful, enthusiastic and hard-working bartending and serving team will be here to ensure that your Opening Day at City Lights will be epic!
Live music begins at 10AM with the Stage Hoggs on the performance dock. Not only are the Stage Hoggs incredible; band member Chriz Selke was instrumental (pun intended) in the opening of City Lights. If you love our beer, there is a karmic symmetry with Chriz and the Hoggs performing at City Lights that will restore balance to the universe and a smile to your music loving soul.
Complimentary shuttle service to Miller Park begins with our first drop-off leaving the mothership at 11AM. The shuttle will make continuous drop-offs until the third inning and begin round-trip pickups at the start of the sixth inning.
The post-game party will kick-off at 4PM when “2017 WAMI nominated New Artist of the Year” Kelsey Miles Band takes to the performance dock with a unique blend of rock, blues and country. Kelsey and her mates have a magical stage presence, a contagious energy level and an incredible expertise in an eclectic variety of musical genres. You won’t want to miss this…
And after the Kelsey Miles Band brings the house down and closes with a third crowd-demanded encore, stay around for the NCAA Basketball Championship Game. We should still have some brats available for your dining enjoyment! And we promise not to run out of beer! Go Ducks!
The Lemongrass Wheat beer sounds fantastic. Here’s how our Chief Innovation Officer, Dr. David Ryder, describes it, “Our mission at City Lights Brewing Co is to bring back original and authentic beer styles to the consumer which, we believe, make thirst worthwhile! One such traditional beer is Lemongrass Ale which we have re-interpreted as a wheat ale based on a recipe from over 200 years ago. Citrus aromas are immediately apparent in the headspace of this unique ale which become quickly dominant to augment the drinking experience. The sprightly mouthfeel’s citrus tang become evident at mid-palate accentuated by the addition of lemon grass in the brew kettle as well as Citra and Cascade hops from the Pacific Northwest and Hallertau Blanc hops from Germany. Texture to the mouthfeel is provided by the right sprinkling of white and red wheat to uplift the palate providing a very drinkable thirst quenching dryness which mingles well with the array of barley malts used in this recipe to give a temptingly clean and refreshing finish at around 5% ABV.”
A special thanks to the wonderfully talented Cory DeWalt and her incredible team at CYD Design (www.cyddesign.com ) for a conscious stream of consistent creativity and design excellence.
