Greetings,
There is too much happening at City Lights this week to wait until Thursday to preview the week ahead.
Friday is Cinco de Mayo and we’re going all-out with our celebration!
Jimmy the Brewmaster and Alissa the Bartender have collaborated on an absolutely incredible “City Lights Raspberry Beer-Garita.” This delicious concoction includes fresh raspberries, a squeeze of a zesty lemon, freshly squeezed lime juice, simple syrup and City Lights Lemongrass wheat beer, served in a City Lights goblet with a salted rim and a lime garnish.
Milwaukee’s favorite “Get ‘Em While They’re Hot Tamales” food truck will be here Friday from 4pm to 8pm. The tamales are muy bueno and will be featured at a special price of 3 for $5.00.
On Friday from open to 3pm and again from 5pm to 7pm all flights will be $5.00. (That’s a savings of $5.00 per flight!)
All day long your favorite City Lights beer will be available for $5.00 and we will have a complimentary tortilla chip and salsa bar.
And I am still working on the mariachi band…
Though it might be tough to top Friday’s celebration, Saturday will give it a run for its money. Saturday is the 2017 Kentucky Derby and City Lights is celebrating the “Greatest Two Minutes in Sports” with the “Greatest Two Hours in Beers!”
Jimmy the Brewmaster and Alissa the Bartender have once again collaborated on a sure-to-be instant classic – “The City Lights Mint Beer-Julep.” (Freshly muddled mint, simple syrup and City Lights Amber Ale, garnished with fresh mint.)
Each guest who visits City Lights on Saturday will have the opportunity to pick a horse to win the Derby. Each person with the winning choice wins a coveted City Lights can glass and a free fill of the beer of their choice.
And Saturday keeps getting better – we’re having a “Best Kentucky Derby-Inspired Hat Contest.” Winners in both the Men’s Division and the Women’s Division will be chosen by crowd applause and each will receive a $50.00 City Lights gift card. So pony up with an awesome hat and corral your friends to cheer you on.
Kris Hinrichs continues to add amazing photos to her collection: https://kristinehinrichs.smugmug.com/Welcome-to-City-Lights-Brewing-C/n-Gx8ccP/i-GR9VqrC . And it is possible that photographs of City Lights Brewing Company will be featured in an upcoming article in Runner’s World magazine?
We continue to get rave reviews from those who have experienced the magic of a City Lights tour. Each tour consists of small groups who get an “up close and personal” look at the brewing process. The tours usually sell-out in advance, so plan ahead and book here: http://citylightsbrewing.com/tours/
Congratulations to Brian League, Luke Wiesemann and Paul Otto who won first, second and third prizes respectively in April’s monthly clock-in contest.
As the landscaping nears completion, a big shout out to Adam, Kim, Mary, Mayte and the entire ADK Design Team. It has been a pleasure to work with such incredible people on a project so amazing. Big Love to all!
Important dates to mark on your May calendar: May 11th, we will be pouring our delicious beers at the Kendra Scott Grand Opening Party. May 12th, The Kelsey Miles Band will be rocking the House at City Lights. Kelsey's got enough energy to power up our brewing equipment for a month and her eclectic set combines rock, blues and country genres. May 13th, join us for the release of our Coconut Porter beer. The "blessing of the beer" ceremony will be at noon and will be officiated by Rabbi Levi Brook. And starting the Thursday of Memorial Day weekend, our Grand Opening Celebration kicks off.
Cheers!
Robin
