WATER HERO

Water; our most precious natural resource and one of the building blocks of life itself. We drink it, we play in it, we bathe in it, we cook with it; and now the time has come to do a better job of protecting it.

Humans use 1.2 million plastic water bottles per minute. It takes on average 5 times the amount of water in a plastic water bottle, to produce that package of water. So for every 12 ounce bottle of water produced, 60 ounces of water are used to create that bottle. Or, for the 1.2 million 12 ounce bottles consumed per minute, it takes 72,000,000 ounces of water to produce the plastic that contains just 14,400,000 ounces of water. Roughly 91% of those water bottles are not recycled. Which means they end up in landfills; or worse, in the ocean and our waterways. That plastic breaks down into the soil and aquatic life and ultimately ends up in our food system. It’s a harsh reality to face; but the plastic water bottles we use today are poisoning our future generations.

The solution? Aluminum cans and us. Aluminum cans are infinitely recyclable and nearly 75% of all aluminum ever produced is still in use! Unfortunately, only 5-6% of plastic is recycled each year. We’re not just stopping at offering a more environmentally friendly option. We’re putting our money where our mouth is. We’re donating $0.05 of every can to local charities like the Menomonee Valley Partners in Milwaukee, WI whose mission is to protect and revitalize the Menomonee River Valley; home to where the water is packaged. We’re also urging our distribution partners to match our contribution to local charities to further the impact we have on our local communities. We need more than that. We need you to join the plastic-free revolution.

Take the pledge to ditch plastic water bottles and become a Water Hero.
