Greetings,

Jimmy the Brewmaster collaborated with our Chief Innovation Office Dr. David Ryder to brew City Lights Orange Wheat Ale. The Orange Wheat Ale is quickly developing a cult-like following – and so is City Lights Coconut Porter! I like to think these two are becoming the Big Lebowski and Rocky Horror Picture Show of craft beers.

Here’s how Jimmy describes the Orange Wheat Ale: “A heritage beer style, first described 250 years ago, we are excited to honor the history of the style while bringing a fresh new twist. Orange Wheat Ale starts with an unmistakably delightful orange aroma that sets the stage for your drinking experience. The aroma transitions to a full taste of a blend of barley malts and heirloom wheat malted in heritage facility in Germany . Fused with bitter and sweet orange peel and a blend of Denali, Amarillo and Mandarina hop varieties this delicious beer is both tasty and tantalizing.  ABC: 4.7%. IBU 28.”

Is it just me, or do you too think Amazon Prime Day is becoming like all the other holidays and is overly commercialized?

We haven’t retired seasonal beers including our fantastic Lemongrass Wheat Beer; they are just in “hibeernation” until next year.

There is always something exciting happening at City Lights. The star of the show is always our delicious craft brews. On Saturday night, we are taking things to a whole other level. Join us for our first annual “Bridesmaids and Beer.” Our servers will all be styling in their fav bridesmaids’ dresses. DJ Run will be spinning the greatest collection of tunes since Adam Sandler’s “Wedding Singer.” There will be special prizes and drawings all-night including two, $100 gift certificates to Kendra Scott. Guests who join in the celebration by wearing a bridesmaid’s dress will get their first beer free and $1.00 off each beer for the evening. Guests who double down and wear a bridesmaid dress and style their hair in an “updo” will receive their first beer free, $1.00 off each beer for the evening and a free growler fill (Double IPA excluded) to take home with them. At 8:30PM we will be tossing the ceremonial City Lights Bouquet and the lucky bridesmaid who catches the bouquet will win a free 1/6th barrel party!!! I am not sure ofDJ Run’s playlist, but if I were programming the juke box I would be sure to include “Shout” by the Isley Brothers, “Proud Mary” by Ike and Tina Turner, “We are Family” by Sister Sledge, “All of Me” by John Legend, “At Last” by Eta James, “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, “Hay Ya” by Outkast, “YMCA” by The Village People, “Ice, Ice, Baby” by Vanilla Ice, “You Can’t Touch This” by MC Hammer and “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang. Who knows, maybe you will see me breakout the Whip/Nae Nae. And for sure I will be leading the line dance to Boot Scootin Boogie!

Ben the Chef is finalizing the new City Lights menu. Here is a delicious sneak preview: 4 City Lights Beer Inspired Sliders - Kettle Range Meat Co. grass-fed, shredded short ribs topped with house gravy on a brioche bun. Boars Head sliced ham and cherry wood bacon topped with City Lights Brown Ale Cheese sauce on a pretzel bun. Session IPA brined, hand breaded chicken tenders topped with spicy slaw on a Kaiser bun. Sesame crusted Ahi Tuna steak topped with IPA grilled onions on a sesame seed bun.
